airc.digital and the Franco-British Data Society are launching a series of short webinars which will be exploring the impact of AI in the Built Environment.
Introductions: Christophe Le Lannou and Pierre Saunal
Duration: 30mn
Time: From 12:30PM to 1PM (UK time)
27/11/24: « Programming with AI to automate tasks »
Guest speaker: Rubens Lage, Digital Project Manager (BIM) at Ethos Engineering
With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Rubens Lage is applying AI to revolutionise BIM processes by automating workflows and improving project efficiency.
As a key member of the AI Task Force and Innovation Champions groups at Ethos Engineering, he develops AI-driven scripts using Dynamo, JavaScript, Python, and VBA to enhance data analysis, QA/QC processes, model coordination, clash detection, and construction verification.
Rubens has presented at prominent industry events, including the BIM Coordinators Summit and CitA BIM Gathering, sharing his insights on BIM automation in the engineering sector.
This webinar will focus on AI’s impact on engineering, from optimising workflows to driving sustainability initiatives.
Rubens Lage will share examples of AI implementation in engineering projects and how it reshapes traditional processes.
04/12/24: « AI in Construction Delivery »
Guest speaker: Abdullah Gulabi, Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry Business Value Consultant, Dassault Systèmes
Abdullah Gulabi is a curious engineer, passionate about making life better for people in the built environment. His academic background is in Civil Engineering with further masters degrees in Construction Engineering Management and an MBA. In previous roles, he’s worked with general contractors delivering industrial, infrastructure and commercial projects in challenging environments. He’s had a focus on modular, off-site and prefabrication for the past decade.
As the Business Value Consultant for the AEC industry in the Euro-North region with Dassault Systèmes, he works with the industry in unlocking transforming and unlocking value for businesses.
Join this session where we will discuss Model Based Systems Engineering in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry, including use cases in this industry where lessons from advanced manufacturing industries are implemented successfully.
Learn about productisation and how it applies to construction knowledge and know how, as well as the role of generative design and AI in delivering sustainable construction projects.
11/12/24: « AI in Construction Education »
Guest speaker:Dr. Frédéric Bosché, University of Edinburgh
Frédéric is Reader in Construction Informatics and leads the CyberBuild Lab in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.
Education-wise, Frédéric lectures on the Civil & Environmental Engineering programmes at the University of Edinburgh, contributing to Construction Project Management, Digital Construction, and Surveying courses principally.
Research-wise, Frédéric’s interests are principally related to the development and application of new digital solutions to support project and asset management.
He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, and received international research and innovation awards, including in 2018 the Tucker-Hasegawa Award in 2018 from the International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction (IAARC).
In this talk, Frédéric will reflect on AI training in higher education with focus on Civil Engineering (and Construction) education.
Using the Civil & Environmental Engineering programmes at the University of Edinburgh as representative cases and drawing on his own education at the Ecole Centrale de Lille in France (a general engineering higher education institution), he will explore the needs (must we teach AI?), constraints (time and resources) and opportunities (e.g. its relation to multidisciplinary education) of AI training for Civil Engineers.
